Voyage Co — Security Deposit Policy (California Rentals)

1. General Terms

To rent a vehicle in California with Voyage Co, the renter (“Guest”) must provide a refundable security deposit.

• The deposit is not a charge; it is an authorization hold on the Guest’s payment card.
• No cash deposits are accepted. Only major credit or debit cards issued in the Guest’s name are valid.

2. Deposit Amounts (per vehicle class)

• Audi A6 (Premium Sedan): $500
• Ford Bronco (SUV, Off-Road): $750
• Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet (Luxury/Performance): $1,500

Note: Voyage Co reserves the right to increase the deposit for high-risk rentals (e.g., renters under 25 years old, out-of-state licenses, or international drivers).

3. When the Deposit is Collected

• The authorization hold is placed at the start of the rental, when the vehicle is released to the Guest.
• For long-term rentals (30+ days), the hold may be renewed every 30 days.

4. Return of Deposit

If the vehicle is returned on time, in good condition, with a full fuel level and no outstanding balances, the deposit will be fully released.

• Credit cards: usually 24–72 hours.
• Debit cards: up to 7–10 business days.
• Release timing depends on the Guest’s bank; Voyage Co has no control over bank processing speed.

5. Circumstances Where Deposit May Be Used

The deposit may be partially or fully applied toward:

• Minor damages to the vehicle not covered by insurance.
• Fuel shortage upon return (charged at market rate + service fee) or per our Fuel Policy.
• Excessive cleaning (e.g., smoking inside, pet hair, stains).
• Late return fees (per the rental agreement).
• Tolls, parking citations, traffic tickets, or unpaid violations incurred during the rental.
• Mileage overages if applicable.

6. California-Specific Requirements & Guest Rights

• Voyage Co commits to releasing authorization holds within the timeframes stated above after the final charges are posted.
• Guests have the right to request itemized documentation of any deductions made from their deposit.
• Disputes should be raised in writing within 7 calendar days after the rental ends.

7. Liability Beyond Deposit

• If damages, penalties, or fees exceed the deposit amount, the Guest is responsible for paying the balance.
• If the Guest fails to pay, Voyage Co may pursue collection, report to credit agencies, or seek legal remedies under California law.

8. Insurance Interaction

• The deposit does not replace insurance coverage.
• In case of an accident, the deposit may be applied toward the deductible or uncovered costs.
